OliBoli Show: May 24th, 2019

What a night! On May 24th I had the opportunity to partner with my friends at OliBoli Donuts in Tustin to put on a VIP concert for friends and family. Let me tell ya, the vibes were wonderful. I was so excited to create a space for people to come support local music, eat some piping hot donuts, and enjoy the company of some fellow OC natives. This show was so special to me; there is something so special about sharing your heart with a room full of people who have been supporting and rooting for you.

It was an honor to have Elle Clayton open up the show with her endearing charm, sweet voice, tasteful covers, and moving originals.

This show marked a very important realization for me as an artist: I suddenly grasped both my privilege and responsibility as a performer and a songwriter. Until this show, I had consistently been playing at open mics at coffee shops, or playing short sets at restaurants. At these performances, I was usually background music, except for the occasional friend or fellow performer. On this night, for the first time, I had the surreal experience of standing in front of a group of people who were intently and exclusively listening. I remember thinking to myself, “wow, every single person in this room is paying attention to me”. As I looked around the room, I realized that if I decided to look at someone, there was a 100% chance that person would be looking at me. WEIRD! In that moment, it sunk in: storytelling is powerful, and that power begins the moment someone starts listening.
